CV

If you apply for a job in the Netherlands, you need to have a CV, or curriculum vitae. This is a document that sets out who you are, what you can do and where you have worked.  

What is the purpose of a CV? 

If you are trying to find work, you need to have a good CV. You are more likely to get job interviews if your CV is good. Employers use your CV to work out if the job would suit you. You usually send your CV and a covering letter to a company you want to work for. 

What is in a CV? 

In your CV you provide information on who you are, where you live and where you were born. You also provide information on your education and training, as well as where you have worked and for how long. You might include a brief description of your duties as well. A CV needs to be clearly written and laid out in a way that allows readers to work out quickly what education and work experience you have.

You can find many examples of CVs online, as well as free templates you can download and fill in. These show you what CVs can look like and mean you do not have to design your CV start from scratch.
