If someone is in immediate danger, call 112. The police, the fire brigade or an ambulance will come quickly. 

Dial the emergency number 

The emergency number in the Netherlands is 112. You can call this number free of charge, day and night, from a landline or mobile phone. It does not matter if you have a foreign SIM card. An operator will answer your call and assess what kind of help you need.  

Call 112 in an emergency 

Only call 112 in an emergency, such as a fire, an accident or if someone needs immediate medical attention. You must also call 112 if you see a crime, such as an assault or burglary, being committed. If you are unsure or if you are scared, call 112. It is better to call the emergency services too soon than too late. 

Police, ambulance or fire brigade 

When you call 112, you speak to an operator in the control room. The operator asks questions and listens carefully. Tell the operator where you are and what is happening. Help will come immediately. It might be the police or the fire brigade or an ambulance. What you tell the operator helps ensure the right help comes on time.
