The Dutch police force supports public safety and enforces the law. Call the police if you or someone else is in danger, or if there is an emergency, or to report a crime.
The police keep watch over streets and neighbourhoods and make sure people obey the law. The police also help people who have been in an accident or who are the victim of a violent crime or a crime such as theft. If you are a victim of a crime, you can always file a report with the police.
In an emergency, always call 112. This is the emergency number in the Netherlands. If you need help but it is not an emergency, call 0900-8844. This is the general phone number of the Dutch police force.
