This page explains what you need to do to make sure your details are correct if you move home within the Netherlands.
If you are registered with a municipality, you can report your new address to the municipality in which you will live. You do not need to deregister from your old municipality. The new municipality will take care of that automatically. You also need to report your new address if you move home within your municipality.
You can usually report your move by going to the municipality's website and using your DigiD. If you cannot do this, you can also go to the municipality in person or send a form. You must do this no earlier than four weeks before you move and no more than five days after you move.
If you are registered as a non-resident at an RNI desk, you can use the MyRNI app or go to an RNI desk to report your new address.
If you move home, the government needs to know where you will live so that organisations such as Belastingdienst and health insurers can reach you. It also helps you to receive post and allowances. You cannot use services properly in the Netherlands unless your address is correct.
Important! If you do not report your new address on time or you do not report the correct address, the municipality could fine you up to €325.
After you move, the municipality will automatically inform some government organisations about your new address. These include Belastingdienst, the SVB and Dienst Toeslagen. This means you do not need to inform them.
Other organisations, such as your bank, employer, health insurer or GP, will not receive your new address automatically. You must tell them that you are moving so that everyone knows where you can be reached.
No. If you move home within the Netherlands you do not have to deregister from your old municipality. Your new municipality will inform it automatically.
If you do not report that you are moving home, the government will not be able to reach you properly. This can cause problems when it comes to your post, allowances and taxes. You must therefore always report your new address on time. If you do not do this on time or you do not report the correct address, you could be fined up to €325.
