We use the statistics programme Piwik to analyse which pages are visited most often, how visitors found our website and which search terms are used in our search engine.
For this purpose, like every other website, we collect the IP addresses of our visitors. These are stored in log files. The log files are saved on the web server for 5 days, so that they are available for Piwik. The log files are then saved for 90 days, solely for security reasons. They are only looked at for those reasons.
The Dutch Data Protection Authority has taken measures to restrict the identification of visitors to our website as much as possible. This means that immediately after importing the log files in Piwik, we delete the last 2 octets (groups of figures) from every IP address. This takes place in a temporary memory, before the IP addresses are stored in Piwik.
We collect the following data in the log files:
- cookies;
- IP address;
- user agents (browsers, operating system);
- search terms used to find our website through external search engines;
- search terms used in the search engine on the website itself;
- links used within the website;
- links used to find our website.
This data is extracted by Piwik from the log files of the web server. These log files remain in the Piwik database for 31 days, after which they are deleted. Then all that remains is an aggregated (combined) log file, which provides us with an annual report of website visits.
We do not provide personal data to third parties, unless necessary for reporting a criminal offence.
